From the old manhole covers, old manholes, members of Hanoi Art Space Club used fragmented ceramic pieces to create vivid, colorful paintings on Dinh Tien Hoang Street, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi City.
Dinh Tien Hoang Street is one of the central streets of Hanoi Capital, It attracts a lot of domestic and international tourists to visit.
With the consent of the People’s Committee of Hoan Kiem District, the members of the club have planned to renovate and beautify the landscape of Hanoi with many artistic activities.
The old manholes, manhole covers along Dinh Tien Hoang Street have been created by many art groups with lively and eye-catching drawings.
As part of the project “Colors of Hanoi“, the club used many fragments of pottery in Bat Trang trade village (Gia Lam district) to create vivid Mosaic paintings.
Mosaic is also known as puzzle art, mosaic art. This decorative art consists of many sets of small pieces to create a unified whole from diverse materials such as colored glass, rubble, mirror pieces, glass panels …
Mr. Pham Minh Duc (born in 1970, Hoan Kiem district) shared: “People living in the area strongly support the policy of the district as well as the city about drawing pictures on manhole covers, manholes along the central street. The paintings not only contribute to beautifying the landscape but also contribute to leave a beautiful impression in the eyes of visitors when visiting here”.
Ms. Le Lan Nhi – member of Hanoi art space Club said: “Before the situation, many people in the city still regularly litter indiscriminately into manholes and manholes. Therefore, the club has approved the opinion of the People’s Committee of Hoan Kiem district, from which the club has come up with the idea of implementing with practical activities“.
According to Ms. Nhi, the group’s renovation of manholes and manholes is now in the third phase of the project “Colors of Hanoi” implemented from 2018 to the present. The pairing of ceramic paintings not only contributes to propagating the awareness of environmental protection, but also raising the awareness of the people, joining hands to protect the environment and urban civilization.
